President’s Message
January 2010 Newsletter
The meeting was called to order by Co-president, Annette Forlines. Members present were: Rhonda Hawkins, Gretchen Caola, Therisa Burke, Bertha Mitchell, Irma Young, Mary Martorell, Cleme Cosby, Judi Rutherford, Sue Schultz, Phyllis Coppolino, Claudia Wood, Kathy Schultz, Julie Sanchez, Laura Bosna, Lynne Fraas, Joan Wilcocks, Judy Mahfood and Julia Smith.
President’s Report: Annette called the meeting to order and welcomed board members. An updated list of board members and email addresses has been sent to members. Annette asked that all members complete their budget worksheets and return to the Treasurer asap.
Treasurer’s Report: Therisa Burke presented a yearend report. Motion was made to purchase Quicken Books Pro for use by the Treasurer. Motion was seconded and carried. Therisa recommended that newsletter printing and mailout expenses be reviewed as to current costs to the guild.
Secretary’s Report: The secretary requested a motion to approve December’s minutes as published. Motion made, seconded and carried.
*Membership: Julia Smith is assisted this year by Claudia Wood. The membership folders were completed at the meeting with inserts from various
activities. Julia will send a list of membership monthly to board members, which will show new members and renewed member status.
Programs 2010: Judi Rutherford expressed some concerns regarding the funding of the August 2010 meeting due to the cost of flying in Superior Threads for the program and workshop. After discussion, the board decided to honor the contract with Superior. Membership will be strongly encouraged to participate in the workshops to help defray costs of the program.
Judi suggested that "generic" gmail addresses be used for officers to communicate with membership. Her suggestion was approved and she will take on this project.
Programs 2011: There is still an opening for Programs 2011 Chairman.
*Auxiliary Activities: Laura advised all board members that they would receive information regarding daytime meeting activities via Calling Post. The daytime group is growing and Laura will be needing help keeping the group organized and informed of guild activities.
Community Service: Members can donate quilts of any size for Community Service. Several organizations will continue to receive quilts from the guild. Members are reminded that fabric is available for community service projects.
Website: Judi continues to develop the website and is encouraging members to join the Yahoo group already available.
*Library: Phyllis Coppolino reported that the library inventory will be available for circulation at the January meeting. An updated list will be sent via email and hard copy will be available at the meetings.
Fund Raiser Quilt: Mary Moterell showed the beautiful front and back for the 2010 Fundraiser Quilt. It will be quilted by Sharon Jeffries. Julie Sanchez has printed tickets for 2010 and they are in the member packets. The total raised in 2009 was approximately $1500.00. We anticipate a much stronger fundraising effort this year and hope to exceed this total.

Challenge 2010: Joan Wilcocks will be unveiling a back to basics challenge at the January meeting.
Facilities: Dates for the 2010 meetings and workshop have been confirmed with the church.
The following chairmen had no report: Show & Tell, Monthly Mini, and Fat Quarter Lotto.
Old Business: The cost of printing and mailing the newsletter to members who do not have email is currently $10.00 per year. This does not cover the actual cost to the guild. The true cost will be determined and members informed of the board’s findings as soon as possible. The $10.00 fee currently charged during membership renewal will cover the fee through April, with an adjustment in May.
New Business: Shop Hop will be March 18-21.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
Minutes submitted by Phyllis Coppolino as Eileen Reid was not able to attend the meeting.
From the Library….
Inventory of the library collection is complete and you will have the opportunity to check out materials at the January meeting. Come by and see me – let me know how the guild library can best serve your needs. We will be adding new materials this year – I’d like your input.
If you can’t make it to a meeting and have a book checked out, just give me a call and I’ll renew it for you. Otherwise, you will owe an overdue fine of $1.00 per month.

PUBLICITY
My goal as Publicity Chair for 2010 is to have our monthly meeting notices appear in all local newspapers, so I NEED YOUR HELP! If you receive a newspaper outside of the Peachtree City area (where I live), please bring it to the January meeting so I can contact this paper about including a monthly meeting notice. We also have information that needs to be corrected for 2010, so please bring the papers even if the info is appearing now.
Another goal for 2010 is to gain some additional exposure for both quilting in general (raising awareness) and our own guild's outreach works (QOV & local Community Service). Feel free to also bring or email me any current QGSC guild quilting pictures! We do ALOT of outreach and we all know what a comfort quilts can be, so help me to get the word out!!!
Thanks...see you on January 28th!
